16–17 May 2012 – The Museums + Heritage Show in London

The Museums + Heritage Show is taking place on 16 + 17 May 2012 and the show is celebrating it's 20th year! The Show brings together more than 130 museum suppliers with professionals working in museums, galleries, heritage & cultural visitor attractions. “EuropeanaPhotography” Content Seminar

The second seminar of the “EuropeanaPhotography” project dedicated to the selection of content took place in Leuven, Belgium, on the 12–13th April. The seminar was organized by the Catholic University of Leuven, the leader of the Themes, Collections and Content work package WP2. Representatives of the majority of project partners gathered to present their photography collections and objects of the 1839–1939 period that are to be digitised along with the themes of vintage photos. The international conference Digital Strategies for Heritage 2011 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands

On 6–9 December 2011. Digital Strategies for Heritage (DISH) is a bi-annual international conference on digital heritage and the strategies that heritage institutions can follow. Triggered by changes in society, heritage organisations face many challenges and need to make strategic decisions about their activities and services. The key motivators for the conference are inspiration, knowledge, skills and networking.
The conference welcomes all who make or influence decisions touching on the field of cultural heritage (directors and managers of heritage institutions, policy-makers, innovators and researchers). DISH enables participants to learn more about strategic decisions on all aspects of digital heritage, as well as about how their fellow participants are coping with strategy.

Throughout March-September 2010 LM IDC LIMIS holds seminars for museum specialists all across the country. It is part of the project “Skills Training Programme for Museum Specialists Working in Exhibit Digitisation Field – 2010” funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania. The seminars are intended for museum specialists to develop their competence in digitisation field. By the end of 2010 there will be organized a total number of eight seminars for photographers and scanning specialists. During the seminars, the participants are introduced with the particularities of photographing and scanning museum valuables and also gain some practical skills. The other four seminars are intended for museum curators and cover rather different fields, namely the compilation of classifiers and dictionaries, the preparation of exhibit descriptions as well as the Integral Virtual Exhibition System  (http://www.muziejai.lt/emuziejai/index_en.htm) developed by the LM IDC LIMIS. The seminars are held in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Panevėžys.  

 

Museum Wednesdays

Museum specialists and their friends willing to contribute to the development of classifiers, virtual exhibitions, dictionaries of keywords and persons names are welcome at the Lithuanian Museums' Centre for Information, Digitisation and LIMIS every Wednesday from 1 pm.
